Welcome!
I am new to the Ft. Worth TX area, having lived in Sugarland, TX for over 25 years where I raised my two wonderful boys who are now young men residing in the growing community of Ft. Worth, TX. I obtained my Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from theUniversity of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) and recently obtained my PhD in Special Education from Oklahoma State University (OSU).
I completedmy PhD studies in December of 2019 with a desire to move to the Ft. Worth, TX area to be closer to my two grown boys and further enjoy family life. I have worked extensively in the rehabilitation and private practice settings for over 25 years, owning my solo private practice before pursuing my PhD studies full-time.
My interest in working with the special need population such as CerebralPalsy and Down Syndrome prompted me to obtain my certification in Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT/C) and to further pursue my PhD studies in Special Education emphasizing my research and dissertation work in the areas of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and Autism (ASD). I have obtained extensive experience working with a range of speech-language disorders, such as apraxia, speech sound disorders, feeding / swallowing disorders, receptive / expressive language disorders, auditory processing disorders, articulation disorders and myofunctional disorders. Throughout my professional career, I have continued my education attending many conferences in the areas of neurodevelopmental intervention, autism, feeding/swallowing, oral-motor, speech-sound dysfunctions, and myofunctional disorders, obtaining ACE Awards for advanced continuing education courses attended in 2017 and 2018.
I plan to launch my established private practice by June of 2021. In the interim, I will provide home based therapy and virtual therapy services until the opening of my office. My desire to open my solo private practice is to continue to reflect my personal and professional values in providing comprehensive, knowledgeable, quality care to each individual patient and family that I have the privilege to work with.
